Meet Dallas, your Jacksonville birth photographer!
I was born and raised here in Jacksonville, and I went off to college in Chicago and ended up living there for 7 years. I met my husband David when he offered to assemble my Ikea futon in my freshman dorm (smooth, right?!), and we were married in 2013. Having been a photographer for several years, I launched my photography business in 2012 and focused on newborns and their families. In 2015, we decided to come to our senses and leave the frozen midwest to be closer to my family (and the beach!) here in Jacksonville. When we moved to Jacksonville, I was blown away by the incredible birth culture that we have here, and I connected with some amazing local prenatal and postpartum resources during my pregnancy. My sweet daughter was born in 2016 and her empowered, beautiful birth changed me forever. I knew that birth photography was the perfect blend of my two passions (safe, empowering birth and beautiful photography), and that this was the path I needed to follow. I have been photographing births and loving life ever since! And I would be honored to meet you and help you tell your birth story!
In addition to being a birth photographer, I have also completed doula training through Birth Arts International. I believe that any person who enters a birth space as a professional needs to be completely knowledgeable about birth, and all the twists and turns that can come along with it. This training helps me to work with you and help you figure out the best time for me to join you during your labor. It reassures my clients that I know what women in labor need from the people who share their space: quiet, calm, encouragement, and total trust in the process.
Another passion of mine is volunteering as an affiliate photographer with the charitable organization Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. As a NILMDTS volunteer for over four years, I have had the honor of photographing dozens of families who have experienced the loss of a baby. Being asked to join a family in their most devastating hours and taking the only portraits that they will ever have of their baby is heartbreaking, but so incredibly rewarding. I love this organization and everything they do for bereaved families, and it is a joy to serve them year after year.
